Domain & Hosting Resources

If a website is considered your online "storefront", your domain is the equivalent of a street address and your hosting package is the land that you put it on. Since every website needs a domain name and hosting in order to work, use these resources to find the best fit for your needs:

  • GoDaddy - The first step to creating a website is buying a domain name. Although there are many companies out there that offer this service (Register.com & Network Solutions to name a few), GoDaddy has 24-hour phone support and always seems to have a great selection of services available at rock-bottom prices. Furthermore, if you visit RetailMeNot before finalizing your GoDaddy purchases, you'll find coupons that'll drop the costs even lower! Unfortunately, while GoDaddy makes it easy to buy services, it can be extremely hard to navigate when you're trying to manage services you've already purchased. If you don't mind that though & you're looking for the lowest possible price-point, GoDaddy is definitely the way to go.
  • Access GoDaddy WebMail - the place to go if you want to access your GoDaddy email account and read or send messages. Requires log in. I've provided a direct link here because GoDaddy's navigation can be rather confusing at times.
  • Access GoDaddy FTP - GoDaddy's built-in FTP client. Requires log in. Personally, I prefer Filezilla, but to each their own. I've provided a direct link here because GoDaddy's navigation can be rather confusing at times.
  • Manage GoDaddy Domains & Hosting Accounts - the place to go to if you want to make changes to your GoDaddy domain names or hosting accounts. Requires log in. I've provided a direct link here because GoDaddy's navigation can be rather confusing at times.
  • Manage GoDaddy Email Accounts - the place to go if you need to manage (i.e. create/delete users, change inbox limits, etc.) your GoDaddy email accounts. Requires Log in. I've provided a direct link here because GoDaddy's navigation can be rather confusing at times.
  • Manage GoDaddy SubDomains - the place to go if you need to update the sub-domains associated with your GoDaddy account. Requires Log in. I've provided a direct link here because GoDaddy's navigation can be rather confusing at times.
  • AllDomains - Another registrar (seller of domain names) and hosting company, AllDomains provides the same services that companies like GoDaddy do, but has one of the most easy-to-use interfaces around. The price tag on most of their services is higher, but may be worthwhile if you'd prefer not to spend hours trying to figure out where things are located.
  • Apps Communications - If you're looking for the next step up in website hosting and don't mind paying a little extra, I would encourage you to consider "managed hosting" from Apps Communications. In addition to 24/7 phone support for emergencies and powerful email solutions included at no extra cost, managed hosting from Apps Communications guarantees you the peace of mind that comes with knowing that if you want to make a change to your hosting, all you have to do is make a phone call and the technicians over at Apps will take care of it for you - there is no technical knowledge required on your part. Additionally, sites hosted with Apps Communications are located in the United States on servers that you can walk in and look at any time during the business week.
