Don Schaefer

Don Schaefer was born in 1981 on the east coast, and lived in several states across the country before eventually settling in the midwest. From 2000-2004 Don Schaefer attended Northern Illinois University to get his Bachelor of Fine Arts in the field of multimedia. Currently, Don Schaefer does work in the fields of web design, video editing, and search engine optimization for a company based in Orland Park, IL, called Apps Communications.

That's the basics, but quite honestly, I dislike referring to my life as a timeline of events and accomplishments in the third person, so I'm going to put the formalities aside and get to the real me - I'm an honest & dependable guy, with a good work ethic. To me, what is important is enjoying the work that I do and leaving behind a legacy that I can be proud of.

On a more personal note, I enjoy activities (shows/movies/books/games/etc.) that make you think and/or challenge your perceptions of reality. I like following the ins & outs of political situations, business deals, and occasionally various philosophical/psychological matters. I don't know everything, nor do I claim to, but I love to learn. In the wintertime, you'll often find me snowboarding or teaching friends how to snowboard. Other hobbies include video games, comic books, and a general fascination with dragons and history. Past that, if there's anything you want to know about me (and any of the people close to me can confirm this), I'm an open book to anyone genuinely interested. Regardless of the question you ask me, you can be sure that the answer you get will be an honest one.

What a good legacy means to me:

When it comes to my work, it means listening & being receptive to a client's ideas and treating them respectfully. In my experience, people are far more receptive to being told things that they don't want to hear than they are to being given promises that aren't kept. People want & deserve honesty. When deadlines are set, they need to be met. Perhaps, in my young age, I'm old-fashioned, but if someone asks me if I can do a job, I'll give them a straight answer. If I commit to a deadline, I'll stay up until the early hours of the morning making sure the job is done well & on time. Artistically, I view my job as being the vessel through which a client's ideas can be visualized and molded into reality - with guidance when necessary.

In life, it means finding the energy within myself to go the extra mile for someone when I don't have any energy left, and furthermore, to go that extra mile with the same intensity as if I had all the energy in the world. It means listening & keeping an open mind when everyone else is busy talking. It means thinking before acting. It means being responsible and dependable. Most importantly, it means having the strength of character to confront the tough times head on and work through them, rather than around them.
